MeGroove

Community Guidelines

Version 1 · Effective: October 19, 2026

This text is a draft; it will be finalised after legal review.

MeGroove has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for users who harass others. Reported content is reviewed within 24 hours at the latest; content that breaks the rules is removed and the responsible account may be closed.

On MeGroove you can write your first message without showing who you are; this is not permission to harm anyone. MeGroove knows who sent an anonymous message, and an anonymous sender who breaks the rules is sanctioned too. These guidelines apply to profiles, stories, messages and profile links. They are part of the Terms of Use.

1. Be respectful

  • Bullying, harassment, insults, humiliation and persistently disturbing others are forbidden.
  • If someone blocked you or does not reply, do not try to reach them through other accounts or other ways.
  • Hate speech and hate symbols targeting race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics are forbidden.
  • Threats, calls for violence and glorifying violence are forbidden.

2. Sexual content and nudity

  • Nudity and sexual content are forbidden on profiles and in stories.
  • Sending sexual messages, photos or videos to someone who does not want them is forbidden.
  • Threatening or blackmailing someone with sexual images, or sharing another person's private images without their consent, is forbidden.

3. Children's safety

Any content that involves or sexualises people under 18, and any contact with a person under 18 for sexual purposes, is strictly forbidden. For these violations the account is closed permanently, the device is blocked and competent authorities are notified where the law requires it. MeGroove is not for people under 18; report an account you believe belongs to someone under 18 with the "Under 18" reason. Details are in the Child Safety Policy.

4. Anonymity, privacy and identity

  • Do not use anonymous messages to frighten, disturb or deceive anyone.
  • Do not try to find out, get others to guess, or expose who an anonymous sender is.
  • Do not share another person's personal information (address, phone, ID details, private photos) without their consent; we also recommend not writing your own phone number, address or similar personal information in your bio.
  • Do not impersonate another person, brand or organisation; do not create fake profiles.
  • A profile link typed by hand in a conversation is shown as "not verified"; do not use profile links to pass yourself off as someone else.

5. Profiles and stories

  • Your profile photo and stories are public; choose suitable photos.
  • Do not share someone else's photo or copyrighted content without permission.
  • Your username, bio and photos are screened automatically before they are published; content that does not follow the rules is not published. Being caught by this check again and again in the same area within a short time also leads to sanctions.

6. Scams and spam

  • Mass or repeated unwanted messages, advertising, scams and fake accounts are forbidden.
  • Only Instagram, YouTube and Spotify links can be shared in conversations; trying to get around this rule is forbidden.
  • Using extra accounts, automated tools or modified apps to get around MeGroove's rules or limits is forbidden.
  • MeGroove does not read your messages; it recognises spam from behaviour, such as writing to many people in a short time and often being blocked by the people you write to.

7. Illegal and dangerous content

  • Selling illegal goods or services and promoting drugs, weapons or gambling are forbidden.
  • Praising or supporting terrorist organisations or violent extremism is forbidden.
  • Content that encourages, glorifies or describes methods of suicide or self-harm is forbidden.

8. If you meet someone who may harm themselves

Report them with the "Suicide or self-harm" reason; these reports are always reviewed by a person and with priority. If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency number of the country you are in (112 in Türkiye).

9. Reporting and blocking

  • If you see a profile, story or message that breaks the rules, use "Report" in the app: from the menu of the profile or story, and for a message by pressing and holding it. Anonymous senders can be reported too.
  • When you report a message, the reported message and, for context, the messages just before it in the conversation (at most 20) are sent for review; the app asks for your consent before sending them.
  • The person you report is blocked automatically. The reported person is not told who reported them. If your report leads to a sanction, you get a notification; it does not say which sanction was given or who the anonymous person is.
  • When you block someone, neither of you sees the other anywhere and neither can write to the other.
  • Misusing the report system, for example sending false reports to retaliate against someone, also breaks the rules; false reports reduce the weight of your reports and may temporarily restrict your ability to report.

10. If the guidelines are broken

  • Reports are first assessed automatically; every report the system cannot decide and every serious report is reviewed by a person.
  • Content may be removed and the account may receive a warning, a time-limited restriction on features such as sharing stories, writing a bio or starting new conversations, a time-limited restriction of the account, or permanent closure. Sanctions become stricter for repeated violations.
  • For serious violations (e.g. child abuse, terrorism) the account is closed permanently and the device is also blocked.
  • You can appeal a sanction you were notified of from inside the app; a person reviews the appeal. There is no appeal against permanent closure or a device block.
