Terms of Use
Version 1 · Effective: October 19, 2026
This text is a draft; it will be finalised after legal review.
These terms describe the rules that apply when you use the MeGroove app and the MeGroove website. By creating an account you accept these terms, the Privacy Notice and the Community Guidelines. Our standards for protecting children are in the Child Safety Policy.
MeGroove is provided by: —. In this text "MeGroove", "we" and "our" mean this company; "you" means the person using the app or the website.
1. What MeGroove is
MeGroove is a social app with profiles, 24-hour photo stories, a discovery feed and messaging. You can write your first message to a profile without showing who you are: the recipient does not see you, but MeGroove knows who sent the message (details in section 5).
- There is no random matching; a message is always written to a known profile.
- The app currently has no voice or video calls and no voice messages.
2. Who can use MeGroove
- MeGroove is for people 18 and over only. Your date of birth is asked at sign-up; where your phone can share age information, that is used too. People under 18 cannot create an account; the account of a person found to be under 18 is closed.
- You must enter your real date of birth; it cannot be changed later.
- Each person creates an account for themselves. You may not hand over, sell or rent your account.
- A person whose account was permanently closed cannot create a new account with the same e-mail address; if their device was blocked, they cannot create one from that device either.
- You must accept these terms, the Privacy Notice and the Community Guidelines when you create an account; no account is created without this acceptance.
3. Your account and its security
- Do not share your password with anyone. MeGroove staff will never ask you for it.
- An account can be signed in on one device at a time. When someone signs in on another device, the session on the previous device is closed and that device is notified.
- You can change your username only once. If you do, the people you follow, your followers and the messages on this device are deleted; blocks, sanctions and purchases stay. The app warns you before you change it.
- If you think something happened on your account without you, change your password and write to the address on the support page.
4. Your profile and who sees it
- Your username, profile photos, bio, tags, gender, age and the zodiac sign calculated from your date of birth are visible to everyone on your profile. Your date of birth itself is never shown anywhere. You do not choose your zodiac sign and cannot change it.
- Your profile link (on the website, /u/yourusername) shows anyone who has the link only your username, profile photo and bio. This page is closed to search engines. A frozen, deleted or hidden profile is not shown on the website.
- No user is ever shown who follows you, who looks at your profile or who viewed or liked your story; on your stories you see only the counts.
- In your privacy settings you can turn off appearing in the discovery feed with "Appear in the feed", choose who can message you (everyone or only people you follow) and whether you accept anonymous messages; you can turn off last seen, online status and read receipts.
5. How messaging works
Anonymous first message
- When you write to someone, they do not see you; they see a random anonymous name made for that conversation (e.g. "anon-…"). Your anonymous name is not derived from your username or your account and it is different in every conversation.
- Anonymous does not mean anonymous to MeGroove. MeGroove knows who sent the message. An anonymous sender can also be reported and blocked; an anonymous sender who breaks the rules is identified and sanctioned.
- The recipient is never told by any means who an anonymous sender is: no paid feature, Premium included, reveals an anonymous sender.
- Only you can reveal your identity: with "Share my profile" in the conversation menu. This cannot be undone.
The "Accept anonymous messages" setting
- The "Accept anonymous messages" setting in privacy settings is on by default.
- If a user turns this setting off, a person who wants to write to them is asked whether they want to share their profile. If they agree, their profile is shared with the recipient automatically and the message is sent; if they do not agree, the message is not sent.
- The 3-message rule below still applies while this setting is off.
Until the recipient replies
- Until the recipient replies, you can send at most 3 messages in a conversation and you cannot send photos or videos. A reply to a story also counts towards these 3 messages.
- Once the recipient replies, these limits are lifted. The recipient can block or report you without replying.
Links and media
- Only Instagram, YouTube and Spotify links can be shared in conversations. A message with any other link is not sent; even if it is, it is not shown in the recipient's app.
- You can send photos and videos as permanent, timed (deleted from both devices when the time you chose runs out) or view once (opens once and is deleted when closed).
- For view-once media, screenshots and screen recording are blocked; on phones where a screenshot cannot be fully blocked, the sender is told that a screenshot was taken. There is no technical protection against someone photographing the screen with another device.
Where messages are kept
- Your messages and their media are not kept permanently on our servers: they are delivered to the recipient and stay on the devices. If the recipient is offline, a message waits until it is delivered, for at most 30 days; then it is deleted.
- Because messages are kept only on your device, your old messages do not come to a new device when you switch phones or reinstall the app. When you sign out you can choose to delete the messages on this device.
- MeGroove does not look at the content of private messages and does not scan private messages automatically. If a message is reported, the messages sent from the reporting person's device are reviewed and kept as evidence for the review.
6. What you share
- You are responsible for what you share on your profile and in your stories. You keep your rights to it; you give MeGroove only the free, non-transferable permission needed to show it in the app and on your profile link, to store it and to check that it follows the rules. This permission ends when you delete the content (except for legal retention duties and report evidence).
- Stories are photos only and disappear automatically after 24 hours. Each story shows whether the photo came from the camera or the gallery.
- Public content (username, bio, profile photos, stories) is screened automatically before it is published; an AI service is also used for this screening (Privacy Notice). Content that breaks the rules is not published.
- You may not share someone else's photo, copyrighted content or another person's personal information without permission.
7. Rules of conduct and zero tolerance
MeGroove has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for users who harass others. Reported content is reviewed within 24 hours at the latest; content that breaks the rules is removed and the responsible account may be closed.
When using MeGroove you may not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, use hate speech or persistently disturb anyone.
- Share nudity or sexual content; send sexual messages or images to someone who does not want them.
- Share anything that involves or sexualises people under 18 (Child Safety Policy).
- Use anonymity to harm others, or try to find out or expose who an anonymous sender is.
- Impersonate others, create fake accounts, spam, scam, or promote illegal goods or services.
- Use extra accounts, automated tools or modified apps to get around the rules and limits; try to get around MeGroove's security measures or damage its systems.
The full list is in the Community Guidelines.
8. Reports, blocking and sanctions
- Every profile, story and message can be reported from the app. The person you report is blocked automatically. The reported person is not told who reported them.
- Reports are first assessed automatically; every report the system cannot decide and every serious report (e.g. child safety, threats, self-harm) is reviewed by a person.
- When you block someone, neither of you sees the other anywhere and neither can write to the other. Blocking also works fully on an anonymous sender.
- If a violation is found, content may be removed and the account may receive, step by step, a warning, a time-limited restriction on certain features (stories, bio, starting conversations), a time-limited restriction of the account, or permanent closure. Sanctions become stricter for repeated violations. In some cases content may be hidden temporarily, without notice to you, while a review is in progress.
- For serious violations that cannot be excused (e.g. child abuse), the account is closed permanently and the device is also blocked; this decision is only made by a person.
- You can appeal a sanction you were notified of from inside the app, once a month; your e-mail address must be verified for this. The appeal is reviewed by a person other than the one who issued the sanction. There is no appeal against permanent closure or a device block.
- Payments made before a permanent closure (the remaining Premium period, unused Boost) are not refunded.
9. Premium and Boost
Purchase and renewal
- Premium and Boost are bought through the App Store or Google Play, using that store's payment system. The price, period and renewal terms are shown before you buy; payment is taken from your store account. Your card details never reach us.
- Premium is a subscription that renews automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled (e.g. weekly, monthly or yearly; with the periods shown in the store). To stop renewal, cancel it in the store's subscription settings at least 24 hours before the period ends; if you cancel, Premium lasts until the end of the period.
- Deleting or freezing your account does not cancel the subscription. You must cancel it in the store yourself; the app cannot do this for you.
- A purchased benefit belongs to the MeGroove account you were signed in to when you bought it; it is not moved to another account. When you change phones you can get it back with "Restore purchases".
Refunds
- Refunds are handled by the store; to get a refund you need to apply to the App Store or Google Play (links are on the support page).
- If the store refunds a purchase, the benefit that came with it is removed immediately: Premium is turned off, a running Boost stops and unused Boosts are deleted.
What Premium gives and does not give
- It gives: a better chance of appearing higher in the discovery feed; age, gender and country filters in the feed and the story feed; sorting stories by date; sharing 10 stories a day instead of 3.
- It does not give: it does not reveal anonymous senders; it does not show your followers or who viewed or liked your story; it does not get around blocks or sanctions.
Boost
- Boost is a one-time purchase: when you start it, you appear at the top of the discovery feed for the period you bought.
- To start a Boost you must have a profile photo and "Appear in the feed" must be on. While your account is restricted, Boost cannot be bought or started.
- Boost does not get around blocks or sanctions: a person who blocked you or whom you blocked still does not see you.
- If your boosted profile or content is found to break the rules and is removed, the Boost ends immediately and is not refunded.
10. Freezing, deleting and unused accounts
- Freezing: you can freeze your account from the app. A frozen account is not visible to anyone, and the messages on this device are deleted. If you sign in within 15 days your account is reopened; if you do not, it is deleted permanently.
- Deleting: you can delete your account permanently from the app's settings or from the account deletion page. Deletion cannot be undone. Your profile, photos, stories, follows, blocks, settings and the messages on this device are deleted. The messages on the devices of the people you chatted with are not deleted; their conversation shows "This account is no longer in use." What is deleted and what is kept by law is described in the Privacy Notice.
- Unused account: if you do not sign in to your account for 30 days, your profile photos, bio, tags and any stories are deleted; your account and username remain. No separate reminder is sent before this clean-up. When you come back you can fill in your profile again.
- We may close your account for breaking the rules (section 8).
11. External links
When you tap a link in a conversation or on a profile, the app tells you that you are leaving MeGroove and shows the address you are going to. The content and security of these sites are not under MeGroove's control; opening the link is your choice and your responsibility. Before sharing your password or personal information, make sure the site is the right address.
12. Limitation of liability
We provide MeGroove as it is; we cannot guarantee that it will work without interruption or errors. To the extent permitted by law, the person who sends or shares a message or content is responsible for it. Cases in which the law does not allow liability to be limited (e.g. intent and gross negligence) are outside this section.
13. Changes
When we change these terms we publish a new version, and the app asks you to accept it before you continue. Previous versions are listed at the bottom of this page.
14. Governing law and contact
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
- If the Turkish and English texts differ, the Turkish text prevails.
- You can send your questions to the address on the support page. Requests from public authorities and rights holders go to the legal requests address on the same page.
